Solar industry calls for market-driven approach to TVA solar programs
The Chattanoogan
TenneSEIA, the state business association representing the solar industry, responded to the closure of TVA's solar programs today by publically urging the authority to abandon the practice of setting arbitrary calendar year caps on solar installations and instead, adopt a market-driven model that decreases incentives based on the amount of solar installed and incorporates the value of solar energy into the budgeting process. TenneSEIA hopes to resolve these issues prior to the TVA Board of Directors voting on the 2014 budget at its Aug. 22, meeting in Knoxville.

Senator introduces community solar energy bill
Solar Industry
U.S. Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colo., has reintroduced his Solar Uniting Neighborhoods Act that would make homeowners who participate in community solar farms eligible for federal tax credits. Udall first introduced the bill in 2010, but it died in committee. Solar panels pay off
KABC-AM
The Department of Water and Power said building owners who have solar panels installed on their property will now be rewarded. DWP said they will pay the owner's because the panels feed power into the city's grid which helps generate about 150 mega watts of clean, renewable solar energy that could provide electricity to over 43,000 homes.

Top solar power countries per capita and per GDP
Clean Technica
Below are rankings of the top solar power countries per capita and per GDP. These rankings of solar power by country are key to seeing who the solar power leaders are in relative terms. It's great that giant countries like the U.S. and China are investing in solar, but how do their investments really rank when we compare to country populations and GDP? That's the important question — that is, if we want to identify who is really leading the world with aggressive solar power policies and incentives.

Cheaper, improved solar power making inroads in SD
Capital Journal
Cordell Costar hadn't exactly planned on getting into solar power. It was purely a matter of necessity for servicing a pump that provides water to livestock on land he owns in Perkins County, S.D. Costar has seen mile after mile of solar power installations in Arizona, but says it was his own search for a reliable power source for that grazing land in northwest South Dakota that made him also decide to put four solar panels on his roof in Fort Pierre.
