A new report out by the Council of Economic Advisors, analyzing the economic and job creation impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), finds that the ARRA saved or created millions of jobs. The UN-supported organization, Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century, conducted a study that shows half of new power generated in the United States in 2009 was renewable energy. The U.S. has taken great strides toward mass use of renewable energy. Just last year, 10 gigawatts of wind power capacity was installed in the United States, which can power 2.4 million homes. More

"The renewable energy supply will not be a constraint in meeting the 10 percent by 2015 target set by the National Action Plan on Climate Change," Dr Pramod Deo, IAS, Chairman, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) was quoted by a recent CII statement. He added that CERC has conducted a study to assess the supply scenario based on stakeholder consultation and the study revealed that the supply from renewable energy resources could exceed 47720 MW by 2015, as against the trend scenario of 54,800 MW. PV companies sue New Jersey governor after solar rebates raided

After declaring a fiscal emergency in the U.S. state of New Jersey in February, Governor Chris Christie in early May issued an executive order allowing $158 million in utility ratepayer funds designated to support mostly solar energy programs to be diverted to the state's general fund in order to help plug a $2.2 billion budget shortfall for the current fiscal year, which ends June 30. California is suing the federal government to stop it from derailing a program that allows homeowners to finance solar panels and other energy-saving improvements through their property tax bills. Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown filed suit in federal court in Oakland against Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and their regulatory agency, the Federal Housing Finance Agency, which have effectively shut down the financing vehicle in California.
