New solar panel factory is destined for Oregon
Daily Finance    Share   Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Over the past year, states have jockeyed to create so-called "green jobs" by showering incentives on renewable energy companies seeking to set up factories. Oregon is the latest state to notch a big win in that effort: A Silicon Valley solar company has announced plans to build a large factory near Portland. More

Researchers create graphene organic photovoltaic panels
DailyTech    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Despite the fact that graphene has been known to exist for decades, only recently have researchers begun to study graphene in earnest. The reason for the relatively late start into research using grapheme is that the material was difficult to make in quantities needed for research. Once that hurdle was overcome, researchers quickly started to use graphene in all manner of study for a variety of uses. More

The good, the bad, the green of alternative energy
Boise Weekly    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
There he was on the July 14 front page of the New York Times. Those scheming eyes. That devil-may-care grin. And that big-as-Texas cowboy hat. The ultimate bad-ass of big oil, J.R. Ewing (or at least actor Larry Hagman, reviving the '70s icon who double-dealt his way to fictional fortune on the TV series Dallas). But the 2010 version of J.R. was promoting--brace yourself--solar energy. Instead of "drill baby drill," this J.R. is extolling "shine baby shine." More
