Ferrostaal AG and German solar developer Solar Millenium AG have won clearance from the California Energy Commission to build a $6 billion, 1GW solar power plant, which once realized, will dramatically boost the U.S.'s solar power capacity. According to the Solar Energy Industry Association, the country installed around 481MW of solar power capacity in 2009. More

California loans boost solar production and jobs

The California Energy Commission has awarded $13.4 million in low-interest loans to four solar photovoltaic manufacturers in the state. The funds, from federal stimulus money, will go to Morgan Solar, Inc., Solar Power, Inc., Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc., and the Solaria Corporation. More
