CIOs eye Obama cybersecurity push with 'high level of interest'

At the State of the Union address, President Barack Obama urged Congress to "finally" pass legislation he said was needed to combat the evolving threat of cyberattacks. "No foreign nation, no hacker, should be able to shut down our networks, steal our trade secrets or invade the privacy of American families, especially our kids," he said. Obama recently proposed additional policy initiatives in advance of the recent address. Those proposals include enabling cybersecurity information sharing and modernizing laws that will make it easier to prosecute cybercriminals.

Sherry Neubert will be Goodyear's 3rd female CIO

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has named Sherry Neubert as its new vice president and chief information officer. Neubert, who will start on April 1, succeeds James McKinnon who is retiring after 40 years with the company. McKinnon has been vice president and CIO since 2010. She will step into the position at a time when women are increasingly becoming CIOs at large companies.
