As we all struggle to understand what happened in Orlando this past weekend, and as we continue to mourn the senseless loss of life, we once again find ourselves questioning whether our government is doing all it can to supervise communications and other consumer generated data, in order to understand threats and prevent attacks. But those questions alone fail to recognize the constant balancing act that we expect to protect our privacy.
SIM's new Cybersecurity SIG is hosting its inaugural webinar next Tuesday (3 p.m. EST/12 p.m. EST), where it hopes to further the quest to find the appropriate balance. Caren Shiozaki, the SIG's Chair, will moderate a discussion with FBI and industry panelists to do just that.
