    The Wall Street Journal
Offshoring and IT automation will eliminate 3.7 million positions in back-office areas of IT, finance and other departments of North American and European companies, according to new research from The Hackett Group Inc. The consultancy is forecasting a 46 percent decline in 8 million business services jobs in 2002 to 4.3 million by year-end 2017. The good news is that specialized workers who can contribute to their companies' shift toward global business services will find themselves more employable.
