Nominations for the prestigious Texas Housing Hall of Honor are now being accepted. The Texas Association of Builders (TAB) needs your help celebrating the men and women who have made significant and lasting contributions to the Texas housing industry. Inductees are selected from nominations you submit annually from the following categories: builders, developers or remodelers; trades professionals and suppliers; government; and, industry-allied professionals. Nominees do not have to be members of TAB.
Last year, David Weekley and Ray Tonjes were inducted beside 19 other elite honorees. The contributions of these individuals have resulted in the long-term advancement of the residential construction industry in Texas. Inductees for the 2017 Texas Housing Hall of Honor will be formally recognized during a ceremony on Nov. 17, at the Excellence in Leadership Dinner in Austin, Texas. Deadline for nominations is June 30, 2017.

The city's 14 City Council members and mayor each took an oath of office at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in the morning before taking care of new council housekeeping in the afternoon. Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, fresh off losing three of his strongest allies on the City Council, laid out his vision for the next two years to a council that seems ready to fight him at every turn.

For the first time in more than a decade, the Supreme Court will take up a case questioning a common practice U.S. lawmakers use to draw political maps: gerrymandering. The court announced that it will consider whether district lines drawn by Wisconsin’s Republican-controlled legislature in 2011 put Democratic legislators at a disadvantage. Texas lawmakers will likely closely follow the case, as it could have implications in the state, which has its own redistricting case.
