Suominen increases nonwovens production capacity

On the heels of Suominen's announcement to sell its wet wipes business unit, Codi Wipes, to Value Enhancement Partners, the global leader in nonwovens for wipes, says it will invest approximately €2.5 million in capacity expansion at one of its assets at the Windsor Locks plant in Connecticut, U.S. The investment increases Suominen's capacity to produce value added nonwovens products, particularly for the growing segment of flushable products.

Propex consolidates geotextile manufacturing

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Propex Operating Co. LLC has announced plans to consolidate its woven geotextile facilities in southern Georgia. During the next six months, the company's 1 million-square-foot Nashville, Ga. plant, located north of Valdosta, will shut down, transferring most of its woven geotextile capacity to Propex's Hazlehurst, Ga. facility, southwest of Vidalia.

French textile machinery builders reach record sales in 2013
Innovation in Textiles
The French Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association President Bruno Ameline and the Secretary General Evelyne Cholet report on the state of the French textile machinery manufacturers. UCMTF comprises 30 specialty textile machinery manufacturers, often leaders on their specific markets. Their total annual consolidated turnover of 1 billion Euros (1.3 billion USD) makes France the sixth largest textile machinery exporter and they are particularly strong in long fibre spinning, yarn twisting and texturing, heat setting, Jacquard and dobbies, dyeing, nonwoven and recycling processes.
