It's common for shooters to get in a habit of doing dry fire at home and only doing live fire when they go to the range. By simply doing dry fire at the range in addition to live fire, you can maximize the effectiveness of your range time and spend less money. The first reason to combine dry fire and live fire is to combat a problem that many shooters don't know exists: The brain figures out the difference between dry fire and live fire and develops separate neural pathways for each.

The Transportation Security Administration announced the 2014 single-day record for the number of firearms discovered in carry-on bags across the country has been broken. TSA screeners found 21 guns in travelers' bags on Feb. 23, breaking the standing record of 18 set almost three years ago. In all, the agency tasked with protecting travelers in the nation found 79 firearms last week as well as a live smoke grenade, a stun cane, and replicas of a suicide vest and claymore mine.

Army Times
Firearms manufacturer Glock has filed a protest with the government over the Army's award of a new pistol contract to competitor Sig Sauer, according to documents filed with the Government Accountability Office on Feb. 24. The move puts the Army's plans to begin testing its XM17 Modular Handgun System on hold until the complaint is resolved.
