Certification begins for 1st class of Texas school marshal trainers
Texas Public Radio
The first class of school marshal trainers gathered to begin their own training at the Texas Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center in Maxwell, Texas, which is located northeast of San Marcos. The group will then be in charge of training school marshals in schools throughout the state — for schools that choose to participate in the program.

There is constant sound and motion at DART's Convention Center Station, and it's one of Kim Lanphere's regular stops. "I use DART 30-40 times a week," she said. "At most stations, I feel relatively safe, because there's light and people." But as of recently, her feeling of safety is gone. Dallas police say she passed 23-year-old Jamail Koroma on a sidewalk near the station.

Deadline for request to attend June UN small arms control meeting April 7

The United Nations' 5th meeting of states on the Program of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons is June 16-20. TSM Worldwide LLC would like to encourage all qualified pro-gun trade and civil society groups to attend and appropriately make their views known. The deadline to request credentials for this meeting is April 7.

Exclusive — shock verdict — Mark Witaschek guilty of possessing muzzleloader bullets in DC

In a surprising twist at the end of a long trial, a District of Columbia judge found Mark Witaschek guilty of "attempted possession of unlawful ammunition" for antique replica muzzleloader bullets. Judge Robert Morin sentenced Witaschek to time served, a $50 fine and required him to enroll with the Metropolitan Police Department's firearm offenders' registry within 48 hours.

Reloading cast bullets for the .45 ACP

In test-firing the newly reintroduced Colt Gold Cup National Match in .45 Automatic Colt Pistol, We initially fired seven different factory loads. However, just as with most everyday shooting of the .45 ACP, we used even more handloads. The handloads consisted of all cast bullets, both homebrewed and factory versions — with the latter being found both in hardcast and soft, swaged types.

Dallas Safari Club urges science over politics in lion conservation

Anti-hunting activists have petitioned the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list the African lion as a threatened or endangered species. A decision is expected any day. Dallas Safari Club officials are hoping for a ruling that favors science, not petitions. "Political pandering in Washington D.C. won't help lions," said Ben Carter, executive director of DSC. "Lions need science-based, practical strategies that fit on-the-ground realities in Africa."
