"I am the proud recipient of the endorsements by the National Rifle Association and the Texas State Rifle Association many times in the past and I am honored by their "A" rating. As Chairman of the House Committee on Public Safety, I worked tirelessly with the NRA and TSRA to make sure that our Second Amendment freedoms were protected. Every Texan has the right to protect themself and I worked with the Department of Public Safety to cut the CHL backlog from six months to 45 days so that our citizens along our border, and in East Texas, could receive their concealed handgun licenses faster." 'Stand Your Ground' laws attacked despite broad public support
Ammo Land    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
In an effort to capitalize on the Trayvon Martin shooting, Reps. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz., and Keith Ellison, D-Minn., co-chairs of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, threatened to offer a so-called "Trayvon Amendment" that would cut funding to states with "stand your ground" laws. The legislators quickly reversed course when they learned the motion would likely be ruled out of order. Anti-gun legislators will likely continue to push to overturn "stand your ground" self-defense laws in states like Florida. Rest assured NRA-ILA will be there to fight them. More
