Gun selection for women style vs. comfort
Texas Gun Enthusiast    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Tom Miller: "When selecting a firearm, women should consider size, fit, concealment options, aesthetics and perhaps above all comfort. On a recent trip to McBride's Guns in Austin, I bought my wife her first pistol. Before we arrived we discussed several option, but I really wanted the decision to be hers. She knew she wanted a 9 mm or higher and she wanted something that would fit in her purse." More

The Edmond Sun    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Someone using the handle "bronathan" posted a question on a Web page dedicated to Senate Bill 1733, an open carry bill. The author of the post wrote that he and his family relocated to Oklahoma more than nine months ago. After relocating, he notified Texas about it so he could change over his concealed carry license to out of state now that he is a resident of Oklahoma. His question: Will my Texas permit allow me to open carry or will I need to have an Oklahoma license to open carry? More

Louisiana on its way to passing strongest pro-gun law in US
International Business Times    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Recently the Louisiana House passed Senate Bill 303, which would remove language from the state constitution specifically allowing the state to regulate concealed weapons. Now, the NRA-backed proposal is headed back to the Senate for concurrence with House committee amendments, before voters are asked to cast their ballots on the issue in November. "I can think of few things I believe in stronger than this," state Rep. Chris Broadwater, a Republican, told Louisiana Gannet News. He added that the Legislature needs to act now to strengthen the state's firearm laws before a court decision arises that challenges the idea that gun ownership is a fundamental right. More

Ohio concealed carry law variations create confusion
The Chillicothe Gazette    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
If an Ohio concealed carry permit holder drives to Pennsylvania and gets out of his or her car with a weapon, that's breaking the law. Or vice versa. If a sportsman preloads his rifle magazines and then drives to the shooting range with the matching weapon, he's also breaking the law. These are all issues state Rep. Terry Johnson, R-McDermott, is trying to address in House Bill 495, which is in front of the Ohio House State Government and Elections Committee. Ohio honors permits from 23 other states. Ohio permits are honored in 26 other states. More

Local Wisconsin governments can ban concealed weapons at all manner of polling sites, from city halls to assisted living facilities, state election officials have concluded. Wisconsin's concealed carry law went into effect in November. The state has held three elections since then with no concealed carry-related problems at the polls reported, although a man caused a stir during an April 3 election when he voted at the Merrillan village hall sporting a "Scott Walker for President" T-shirt and a gun in a tie-down leg holster.
