Gun laws/concealed carry — Where do Obama and Romney stand?
The Huffington Post    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Every state recognizes the absolute right of its citizens to use deadly force when confronted with an immediate threat to their lives or those of their loved ones. Most states, starting with Florida twenty-five years ago, revisited their concealed carry statutes giving practicality to this agreed upon right. After all, what value is there in having a right (self-defense) in theory if the state effectively denies you the very means to enforce that right? More

Nearly half of all American adults have a gun in their home and nearly half of those gun owners are women. Ryan warns gun control coming in Obama 2nd term
Washington Examiner    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Rep. Paul Ryan, the avid hunter who is Mitt Romney's running mate, is warning that President Obama in a second term will advocate for gun control, one of his passions before running for president in 2008. "What I worry about as a hunter, as a person who believes in the Second Amendment, as a gun owner, is knowing that President Obama — in his earlier career, prior to his presidency — was an advocate for gun control. I worry about what his attitude will be once he never has to face voters again," Ryan, a Wisconsin bow hunter, told Outdoor Life. More

Texas should shoot down a bad Virginia law on handguns
The Dallas Morning News    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Frankly, Texas' concealed handgun law scares some folks. They may believe that Texas has too many guns on the street as it is and don't need more people running around armed. In their worst nightmare, they imagine 10 people in a crowd pulling weapons from under their coats and firing away at a threat, real or imagined. Reality, of course, is nothing like that. Texas licensed people to carry concealed handguns 17 years ago and that hasn't happened. Taken as a group, CHL holders are among the most law-abiding and responsible people you could hope to meet. The statistics bear that out. More

Newsmax    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The greatest accomplishment of supporters of the Second Amendment is the belief that "guns are cool," National Rifle Association President David Keene tells Newsmax.TV. Keene, speaking to Newsmax at CPAC Colorado, said that Americans oppose gun laws and it's not just the work of the NRA or of the Supreme Court ruling that the Second Amendment right to bear arms extends to individual Americans. How to choose a cold weather backup gun
Gun Digest    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
There are three basic requirements for the police handgun: it must be reliable, it must be of sufficient power to stop the deadly actions of an assailant and it must be quick into action. Since a backup gun may be less powerful and will likely hold fewer rounds than a service pistol, these requirements are a bit flexible, but still important. A small handgun in a coat pocket give another option when the weather requires us to wear clothing that may hinder access to a primary sidearm. More
