Mistrial declared in Central Texas case watched by gun-rights advocates
The Dallas Morning News
A mistrial was declared in a Texas case against a soldier carrying his assault rifle on a hike, in a proceeding that was being closely watched by gun-rights advocates. The six-person jury in Belton was deadlocked after two days of deliberations. Army Master Sgt. Christopher Grisham, who was charged with misdemeanor interference with the duties of an officer, declared victory afterward. Grisham was arrested in March by a Temple police officer responding to a report that Grisham was carrying an assault rifle while hiking with his 15-year-old son for a Boy Scouts merit badge.

Armed gun rights activists rally at the Alamo
Las Vegas Sun
Several hundred gun rights activists armed with rifles and shotguns rallied outside of the Alamo in a demonstration that broke a longstanding tradition of not staging such events at the enduring symbol of Texas independence. Organizers called the "Come and Take It San Antonio!" rally after a confrontation recently in which San Antonio police threatened to arrest several gun rights activists who were carrying their rifles outside of a Starbucks. They oppose a local ordinance that they say impinges on people's gun rights.

Is the Obama administration the cause of gun ammunition shortages?
The reason for the ammunition shortage should be obvious. After all, with gun sales continuing to break records all those people buying semiautomatic rifles and handguns need a lot of ammunition. Anyone who has used a semiautomatic rifle or handgun to shoot self-resetting steel targets knows that ammo always seems to be in short supply.

Dallas woman designs concealed carry handbags
It's been said that necessity is the mother of invention. It's with that in mind that Kate Woolstenhulme created a line of designer handbags that allow women to carry their concealed weapons in style. "I did some market research and I realized, as many women as there are carrying firearms, there are a lot of women with the same issue that I have," said Woolstenhulme. "I was looking for something that would properly conceal my handgun, make it accessible and also fulfill my fashion requirement."

Is carrying concealed your insurance policy?
The Daily Caller
Personal safety is a daily routine for many Americans. We lock our doors at night, install smoke detectors and burglar alarms in our homes, keep fire extinguishers in our homes, practice fire drills, wear our seat belts when driving and wear helmets when driving motorcycles and ATVs. These are just a few of the general safety practices many Americans practice every day. With all this safety being practiced, why do so many people keep insurance on things like homes, autos, lives and other valuables?
