Should you modify your carry gun?
Handguns
The old “9mm vs .45” controversy is pretty much dead these days, but there are still a few subjects that will get those of us in the gun community into heated arguments. Many of the most heated disagreements include whether citizens should modify their carry guns. While there are a number of ways to modify a handgun, when this topic comes up, more than 90 percent of the people involved are referring to modifying the trigger pull and/or (to a much lesser extent) deactivating the safeties on a carry gun.

Abbott says he will keep his promise on 'open carry' law
KXAN-TV
“If open carry is good enough for Massachusetts, it’s good enough for the state of Texas,” said Governor-elect Greg Abbott at a recent press conference. It is currently illegal to have a handgun out in the open in Texas, but some conservatives want to see that changed. The Department of Justice, as ordered by a U.S. district judge, turned over 64,280 pages of documents pertaining to Operation Fast and Furious to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. This is a major breakthrough in the investigation of the controversial “gunwalking” scandal that transferred as many as 2,000 guns to drug traffickers in Mexico. Aurora restaurant welcomes concealed guns
KXAS-TV
As more businesses ask patrons to keep their guns out, one North Texas restaurant is taking its own stance and encouraging folks to bring their guns along for dinner. Owners at Tater Junction in Aurora have posted signs on their doors reading, “Notice: Guns Welcome on Premises.” Co-owner Darren Trainer said they decided to post the signs when they were taking over ownership of the restaurant. It was initially their way of going against the trend of “No Guns” signs on storefronts.

Power factor and recoil: Bullet weight and compensators
Shooting Times
Previous tests show that light bullets have more recoil and muzzle rise than heavy bullets when driven at the same power factor, because light bullets need more gunpowder for their required higher speed. The greater amount of gunpowder produces more gas that adds to the recoil force. What happens when you put a compensator on the barrel?

Gun training for teachers shows guns in schools still a hot issue
The Denver Post
The issue of whether teachers should be allowed to carry guns in schools is not going away anytime soon in Colorado. Soon, more than 400 educators — two-thirds of them women — from throughout the region will gather at the Centennial Gun Club for a free conceal-carry class, the largest one-day training session ever in Colorado, organizers say. While politicians are reluctant to announce any bills before the legislative session begins in January, it is expected that a measure or two that could allow teachers to carry guns in school will be introduced.
