Gun sales set to rise, Smith & Wesson stock jumps after Obama win
Los Angeles Times    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
While investors moping over President Barack Obama's reelection sent the Dow spiraling down more than 300 points Nov. 7, one sector is seeing a surge: gun manufacturing. Firearms maker Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. surged 10.8 percent to $10.48 a share in morning trading, more than double its price at the beginning of the year. Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc. got a 6.4 percent boost to $47.48 a share, a 39 percent increase from early January. More

Senator Feinstein looking to introduce new assault weapons ban
Examiner    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
A few days before Barack Obama's reelection on Nov. 6, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., began getting ready to introduce legislation to bring back the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004. With Obama, who supports the ban, in the White House for another term and the Democrats fully in control of the Senate, Feinstein will most likely be able to introduce the legislation. If any trouble is encountered in the Republican-held House of Representatives, then gun control advocates should fear not, as Obama would most likely issue an executive order to get around it as he's done in the past when he doesn't get his way. After all, "we can't wait," the dictator needs to erode our rights now. More

After Obama win, US backs new UN arms treaty talks
Reuters    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Hours after U.S. President Barack Obama was re-elected, the United States backed a U.N. committee's call to renew debate over a draft international treaty to regulate the $70 billion global conventional arms trade. U.N. delegates and gun control activists have complained that talks collapsed in July largely because Obama feared attacks from Republican rival Mitt Romney if his administration was seen as supporting the pact, a charge Washington denies. PrOlix® is a biodegradeable, non-petroleum based solvent/lubricant for firearms. PrOlix® solvent seeks out dirt, oils, grime, etc. (even in small and impossible areas) and floats it away. The chemical action during cleaning develops the DRY lubricant and it is drawn into the pores of the material, creating a skin of protection.

Four more years ... Assessing the threat Obama poses to gun owners in his 2nd term    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Unless you were hiding under a rock, you know that President Barack Obama was elected to a second term in office. Thinking about this in binary terms, i.e. good news v. bad news, the good news is that the sky is not falling. In fact, on the contrary, the firearms and ammunition industry will probably experience a second Obama "gun boom." Please recall what Sturm, Ruger CEO Michael O. Fifer said about Obama's re-election prospects in July of 2011. "I think half of the people in the firearms industry, if asked, would hope Obama is not President, but then will secretly go out and vote for him again," Fifer told Bloomberg News in an interview. Run on guns, ammo in Texas town after President Obama's re-election
WPTV-TV    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
At the Gun Cleaners gun shop in Waco, Texas ammo and guns have been flying off the shelf over the past few days. Gun owner Brian Richardson has been anticipating President Obama's re-election for months. "I was a little concerned, because I know that the current president is real big on banning guns." Business is booming for Gun Cleaners co-owner Rich Chatmas." We've done several thousands of dollars' worth of gun sales in the last couple days and I know our brothers and sisters in the bigger gun stores, they're doing hundreds of thousands of gun sales." 2nd part of joint staff report on 'Fast and Furious' released
NRA-ILA    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Recently, the second of three parts of the joint staff report on the "Fast and Furious" scandal was released by House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee. While the first report looked at the actions of those who actually implemented the disastrous program, this report focuses on the management and oversight of the operation by senior Department of Justice officials — or, to put it more accurately, the lack of management and oversight by those officials. 10 Illinois counties say they want concealed carry
The Associated Press via Chicago Tribune    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Residents in some Illinois counties sent a message to lawmakers: Give citizens the right to carry concealed weapons. Measures supporting concealed carry were on the ballot Nov. 6 in at least 10 mostly rural counties — Adams, Bond, Henry, McDonough, Mercer, Randolph, Rock Island, Schuyler, Stephenson and Warren — and passed overwhelmingly in every one. The votes were non-binding because local law cannot override state law. But advocates say they hope to build pressure on lawmakers to support concealed carry. More

So, why did the DHS buy all that ammo?    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Awhile back, the American media reported several, often disparate, stories about Federal agencies stocking up on ammo. Now when the Army makes a big ammo purchase, nobody blinks an eye, but when the Social Security Administration, the National Oceanographic and the Atmospheric Administration's National Weather Service make big buys, you might want to stop and ask "why"?
