The Examiner    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Activists in all 50 states upset with the reelection of President Barack Obama have utilized the White House's "We the People" online petition website to call for secession, The Daily Caller reported. "By 6:00 a.m. EST Nov. 14, more than 675,000 digital signatures appeared on 69 separate secession petitions covering all 50 states," the report documents, adding "Petitions from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas residents have accrued at least 25,000 signatures, the number the Obama administration says it will reward with a staff review of online proposals." Making the case for .38 Super +P
American Rifleman    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The story of the .38 Super cartridge starts in 1900 when Colt introduced the John Browning-designed Model 1900 .38 Automatic pistol. Interestingly, that was two years prior to the introduction of the 9 mm Luger/Parabellum. Both utilize a 0.355-inch-diameter bullet and are ballistically very similar in performance. The 9 mm Luger was almost immediately adopted by the German military but the .38 Automatic Colt Pistol was rejected by the U.S. military, which ultimately adopted the .45 ACP cartridge and the Colt Government Model in 1911. PrOlix® is a biodegradeable, non-petroleum based solvent/lubricant for firearms. PrOlix® solvent seeks out dirt, oils, grime, etc. (even in small and impossible areas) and floats it away. Ruling reinforces law on handguns in employees' cars
The Texas Tribune    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
In an opinion that reinforces a 2011 law, Attorney General Greg Abbott's office said that employers cannot prohibit an employee with a concealed handgun license from keeping a handgun in a locked, private vehicle in an employee parking lot. State Sen. Robert Deuell, R-Greenville, wrote a request for opinion from the office on May 7 on the matter. During the 2011 session, the Legislature passed a law allowing employees to store concealed handguns in their vehicles on employer property except in cases where prohibited by federal or state law. Retired Marine shoots home intruder during break-in    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
If you're a thief, there are a couple of warning signs that you should watch out for. A dog bowl and a leash in the front yard would tip you off that you're probably going to get bitten. A sign that reads, "Trespassers will be shot!" is pretty self-explanatory. The home of 77-year-old Lloyd McCarty is similarly filled with warning signs. He flies an American flag on the front porch, he has a U.S. Marine Corps patch tacked to the wall and he also keeps a framed picture of himself in his glory day as a Marine. If the home invader had noticed these clues then maybe he would have picked another house to rob. More

Aggie student reps back handguns on campus
San Antonio Express-News    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
A tug-of-war among student leaders at Texas A&M University ended with a vote to endorse a likely effort in the Legislature to require all public universities and colleges to allow anyone with a valid concealed handgun license to carry weapons on campus. After weeks of debate, the A&M Student Senate ended an attempt to reconsider a resolution it already had adopted by a 38-19 vote. Student body President John Claybrook, who has five days to sign or veto it, said via text message that he still was undecided. Chicago approves controversial $25 'gun tax'
Global Post    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The price of guns and cigarettes in Cook County, Ill., is about to go up after Chicago commissioners voted to add about $40 million in new taxes to their 2013 budget. Starting April 1, gun buyers will be subject to a new $25 "violence tax" while the cost of cigarettes will go up by $1 starting in March. Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle added the taxes to a $2.95 billion budget proposal saying they will help defray the county's costs for the criminal justice and public health systems caused by smoking and gun violence, reports the Chicago Tribune.
