Maritza Jackson and Bernie Bujnowski Named Emeritus Members
The Utilimetrics board of directors recently named Maritza Jackson and Bernie Bujnowski emeritus members.
Jackson was an active member of AMRA/Utilimetrics for many years. She served as chairman of the board in 2004. Jackson recently retired from Badger Meter and is enjoying life in North Carolina.
After a, successful career at PPL Electric Utilities, Bujnowski retired and formed BJB Consulting. Recently he decided to become a full-time retiree. Bujnowski served as Utilimetrics chairman of the board in 2009.

Talquin Electric Cooperative, Florida's fifth largest distribution electrical cooperative, is implementing Sensus technologies for its advanced metering infrastructure and smart metering program that will serve all 54,000 residential, commercial and industrial members in its 2,600-square-mile territory. The co-op is in the process of installing Sensus electric meters equipped with remote connect and disconnect and iPERL residential water meters, both of which are being read by the Sensus FlexNet communications network. SAIC Announces Agreement to Sell its Global Oil and Gas IT Services Business
Science Applications International Corporation announced it has reached an agreement to sell to Wipro Ltd. certain SAIC operations focused on providing specialized information technology services to oil and gas companies. The operations being sold comprise SAIC's U.S. oil and gas IT services business along with subsidiaries located in the United Kingdom, France, India and the Middle East, all of which are predominantly focused on the oil and gas market. Rome, NY, Cashing in on Energy Efficiency Upgrades
The city of Rome, N.Y., and Johnson Controls announced the energy savings from a citywide energy efficiency program total more than $700,000 since the project began. In March 2008, the city selected Johnson Controls, a global leader in making public and private buildings more energy efficient, to help reduce its utility costs and carbon footprint through an energy conservation program. By 2024, Rome, N.Y., is expected to realize more than $8.5 million in energy, operations and maintenance savings, and projected revenues as a result of this project. More
Report: 5 Percent of World's Natural Gas Wasted

GE released a study, Flare Gas Reduction: Recent Global Trends and Policy Considerations, which estimates that 5 percent of the world's natural gas production is wasted by burning or "flaring" unused gas each year—an amount equivalent to 30 percent of consumption in the European Union and 23 percent in the United States. Gas flaring emits 400 million metric tons of carbon dioxide annually, the same as 77 million automobiles, without producing useful heat or electricity. More
