Airlines vie to serve Haneda Airport
from The New York Times
Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, United Airlines and Continental Airlines, the four largest carriers in the United States, asked regulators for clearance to fly to Haneda Airport in Tokyo. The airlines filed their requests on Tuesday with the Transportation Department as they sought to take advantage of looser rules for flights to and from Japan under the so-called Open Skies accord, to which the two countries agreed in December.
