Inspection model assists in correcting injection defects
from SPE Plastics Research Online
Injection molding is one of the main manufacturing methods for mass production of polymer composites. However, the complex interactions among large numbers of injection variables and possible defects provide a significant challenge from a quality-control perspective. Impartial and effective quality inspection during injection is required to obtain optimum-quality parts on shorter timescales and at lower cost than the current standard. The main research efforts in this field focus on assessment of how process parameters affect qualitative features, while injected-part inspection and adoption of corrective actions remain areas for future development.
