ACIP votes to change recommendations for meningococcal, flu vaccines

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices has voted to eliminate precautionary language regarding the risk for Guillain-Barré syndrome after meningococcal vaccination. In addition, countering current recommendations, ACIP also recommended that children aged 6 months to 9 years who have not been immunized with the 2009 H1N1 monovalent vaccine receive two rather than one dose of seasonal influenza vaccine.
