North Texas church building house for needy hasn't found family that qualifies
from Dallas Morning News
It's a summer tradition at Christ United Methodist Church of Plano, Texas. Volunteers spend their Saturdays building a house for a needy family. But this time – though the walls are up, the roof is on and the interior just got a coat of paint – the church has yet to find an applicant who can qualify for the modest mortgage. "Normally, we've got a family by May or June, when we start," said Glen Thornton, project manager for the church's House on the Corner mission. "This year it's been tough."
