Tobacco giants spend $9 million to fight plain packaging

Tobacco companies are spending millions of dollars fighting a proposal for plain cigarette packaging, according to the ABC. Documents leaked to the national news giant suggested the Alliance of Australian Retailers -- backed by tobacco companies -- is planning a $4 million campaign to fight against the Government’s proposal to introduce plain cigarette packaging.
