NTSB examines claims about regionals' safety standards
The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board recently kicked off a two-day public forum in Washington on airline codesharing, primarily examining whether regional carriers operating under capacity purchase agreements with U.S. legacy airlines adhere to the same safety standards as the mainline operators. Air Line Pilots Association President John Prater claimed that carriers operating fee-for-departure flights are under such economic pressure that safety is compromised.
