Cards made by bioMérieux, Inc. used to determine susceptibility to the antibiotics piperacillin/tazobactam (Vitek 2 Gram Negative) have been recalled, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced. A company investigation has confirmed user reports of falsely resistant and falsely susceptible results for Escherichia coli and falsely resistant findings for Klebsiella pneumoniae, according to an alert sent from MedWatch, the FDA's safety information and adverse event reporting program.
