 ALD technology to be commercialized for volume c-Si cells

Dutch research organization TNO spinoff company SoLayTec has received an investment from Rena and Brabant Development Agency to bring its atomic layer deposition (ALD) technology for volume manufacturing of crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells to commercialization. Research by the Technical University of Eindhoven has claimed that cell efficiencies can be improved by depositing aluminium oxide as a rear-surface-passivating dielectric layer to passivated emitter and rear cell-type c-Si solar cells, resulting in conversion efficiencies of 20.6 percent. more
