Textile implants to aid reconstructive surgery
Researchers at the Hohenstein Institute have developed a 3-D biopolymer fiber implant for the treatment of patients with large soft tissue defects. In the laboratory, the scientists grew dense layers of human adult stem cells on fibers, meshes and nonwovens made of biodegradable biopolymers.
