The effect of foot structure on first metatarsophalangeal joint flexibility and hallucal loading
from Gait & Posture
Foot structure, characterized by the height of the medial longitudinal arch, has been postulated to play an important role in lower extremity biomechanics and the possible development of musculoskeletal pathology. In particular, low arch foot structure has been linked with the development of osteoarthritis of the first metatarsophalangeal joint.
