Houston's pension plight is like a slow-motion crash
from Houston Chronicle
The latest installment in the ongoing city of Houston pension disaster played itself out before city council last week. At issue was the contribution to be made to the Houston Municipal Employee Pension System in the upcoming fiscal year. The HMEPS is the system for all city employees who are not members of the police department or the fire department. In financial terms, it is by far the sickest of the city's three pension systems.
