Phoenix area may lose funds for security
from The Arizona Republic
The Phoenix area is better prepared to handle a terrorist attack, natural disaster or pandemic than it was in 2001. Nearly $92 million in federal dollars has made sure of that. Police and fire departments used that money to buy highly sophisticated trucks, warehouses full of safety equipment and pay for thousands of hours of training for officers and firefighters through a federal program started in response to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
