As well-dressed members park their SUVs, BMWs and late-model Toyotas in the lot before the 8:30 a.m. service, they exchange greetings with men and women in thrift-store castoffs, lugging their worldly belongings in garbage bags and backpacks. Some walk; others lean their old bicycles up against the curb by the church.
