Committee approves House budget plan
from Federal News Radio
The Republican budget plan for fiscal year 2013 cleared its first hurdle March 21 when the House Budget Committee voted 19-18 for its approval. The bill now moves on to a vote before the full House. The plan, which was released March 20 by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., the House Budget Committee chairman, calls for extending the federal pay freeze through 2015, increasing federal retirement contributions and cutting the federal workforce by 10 percent.
