Obesity linked to neighborhood features: Do you live in a fat neighborhood?

Where you live may determine your child's weight, according to a series of new studies. In a special issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, researchers from the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom used geographic information systems to look at how features of neighborhoods children live and play in affect their health. What they found is that characteristics of the neighborhoods children live in could be contributing to the high rate of obesity in the U.S. and elsewhere.
