City council approves settlement with EPA
from The Jacksonvill Journal-Courier
After council approval, the city of Jacksonville, Fla., can finally wash its hands of the part it played in an environmental hazard found in Cape Girardeau, Mo., about 28 years ago. A settlement with the United States Environmental Protection Agency was approved by council vote recently to pay $87,676, settling its liability in an incident of soil and water contamination found near Missouri Electric Works in 1984.
