SEC finds investors are financially illiterate

The Securities and Exchange Commission recently issued a financial literacy study confirming earlier studies that U.S. retail investors lack basic financial literacy. The SEC study was mandated by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and directed the SEC, among other things, to identify the existing level of financial literacy among retail investors, including subgroups of investors.
