New types of Canadian families need new types of homes
from Toronto Star
Family data from the 2011 census was released last month, and while married couples still reign supreme — making up 67 per cent of all families — slowly but surely new types of living arrangements are shaping home life in Canada. The number of single-parent families jumped 8 per cent in the last decade, currently making up 16 per cent of the total. In addition, one-person households (not counted as families) represent 27.6 per cent of all homes.
