Dusty dump calls for new bylaw
from Oshawa Express
Clearing, grading and building on a construction site creates a lot of dirt — and some Oshawa residents are alleging it's impacting their quality of life. Alex Alexander has lived at his Columbus home for 41 years, he says. He appeared as a delegation in front of the City's Development Services Committee to inform them dirt, dust and noise from a dumping ground next door continues to bother his family. The property began operating as a dump in 2007, he says. "Over the years we've been inundated with noise and dust... and there's no end in sight," claims Alexander. "Our quality of life has gone down the tubes." A bulldozer driving around the lot, as well as the clanging noise of dump trucks emptying themselves contribute to a lot of the sound and air quality problems, he says. Some days five to 10 trucks could be on site, another day 80 to 100.
