No tax funds for local air show
from The Kitchener-Waterloo Record
It would truly be a shame to see the Waterloo Air Show crash as an event because it has run out of money. Its displays of marvellous aircraft on the ground as well as the breathtaking aerobatics it stages high in the sky captivate and thrill crowds young and old year after year. Yet, as wonderful as this air show is, it should not be up to local taxpayers to keep it in the air. But the current producers of the show, David White and Richard Cooper, are asking for precisely this — a public underwriting of an event that, for all its virtues, remains a private endeavour.
