11. Reaction mixed to Gehry's 'unfinished' Toronto vision
from Architecture Source
From Oct. 19, 2012:
After famed architect Frank Gehry called Toronto's architecture "banal," it came as little wonder that some were critical of Gehry's plan to redevelop a stretch of King Street West with a complex consisting of three distinctive tall condo towers that would include arts and cultural features. Following the unveiling of the mixed-use condominium and arts complex development, which calls for three 80-plus-storey towers and a street-level base that art mogul and landowner David Mirvish said would be "scupltures for people to live in," some went so far as to liken the plan to "garbage," a critique that Gehry adamantly rejects.
