On July 18, 2012, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing to explore the topic of 'Improving Criminal Justice Forensic Science'
On the same day, the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education of the House Appropriations Committee held a markup of a bill to fund these agencies for FY2013. IAFN signed on to a letter to the Committee from the Nursing Community urging support to provide $251 million for the Nursing Workforce Development programs (Title VIII of the Public Health Service Act), $150 million for the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR), and $20 million for the Nurse-Managed Health Clinics (NMHCs) (Title III of the Public Health Service Act) grants.
