While the stereotype of the meat-and-potato-loving farmer hasn't faded, the same people being counted on to produce food to feed the country's ever-expanding waistline are now facing weight gains of their own. Across the United States, the obesity epidemic has affected more than one-third of American adults and 17 percent of children, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
