Florida Governor Talks Up Plan for Higher Ed and the Environment

Florida Gov. Rick Scott's first stop is at the University of Florida in Gainesville, which he has targeted for a special $15 million appropriation to bring the school into the top 10 public universities in the country over the next five years. "Targeted investments in higher education will help ensure Florida has a university that ranks in the top 10 in the United States," Scott said in a statement. "Because of the hard choices we made to get our state's economy on track two years ago, we can now make a smart investment of $15 million to support the University of Florida's continued pursuit of excellence." more
