Tiny wings over the Canadian Arctic

In continuation of our 2012 Alaskan adventure, this upcoming June we plan to meet in Dawson City, YT and fly east to Norman Wells, NT before travelling up to the Beaufort Sea (Arctic Ocean), to remote destinations such as Kugluktuk, NU, Cambridge Bay, NU (Victoria Island), and Gjoa Haven, NU (King William Island). We will then turn south to Baker Laker, NU and along the western side of Hudson's Bay to Rankin Inlet, NU, Churchill, MB and finally via Moosonee, ON to Timmins, ON.

Two Cessna aircraft (C-172, C-177) are committed thus far and we are inviting any other COPA members with the time and inclination to consider joining our small group adventure. This is a collegial undertaking and as such there will be no registration fees or other costs of participation beyond your own personal expenses.

The proposed itinerary takes us about as far north as one can reliably go in a piston-single (without carrying ferry-tanks that is!), and is definitely not for the faint of heart. We would suggest a minimum of 300hrs PIC as well as significant cross-country flying experience are mandatory. Also, an aircraft range of at least 500NM is essential. Approximate dates would include meeting up in Dawson City, YT on June 8th and arriving in Timmins, ON between June 17th and 20th.
