Police agencies in the West examining facial recognition system
from The Oregonian
The Portland Police Bureau is expected to ask the City Council to renew its contract to gain access to fingerprints from eight Western states. What's interesting is that aside from the regular practice of accessing fingerprint and palm print images from the other Western states, the network intends to broaden its services to include the storing of facial recognition data in the future. "Every major agency is looking forward to that capability," said Ken Bischoff, CEO of the Western Identification Network. But Bischoff said the new technology is not in place yet, and still a ways off.
