Safety agency backs limits to car devices

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently released guidelines aimed at lessening the risks of "distracted driving," recommending that automakers voluntarily limit the functions of electronic devices built into vehicles. The guidelines, which are not mandatory, focus on amenities including communication, entertainment and navigation devices that the makers include.
