Parents back private bus service for choice, magnet schools in Florida
from Florida Today
Families seeking transportation to schools with choice or magnet programs in Brevard County may now sign up for a private school bus service. Parents have been working since March to find an alternative to Brevard Public Schools' corridor busing, which served those students. It's being cut next year — part of $30 million in reductions that also is forcing three schools to close and teaching positions to be cut. For Eric Miles of Melbourne, the conversation started at his child's bus stop with talk of carpooling to Stevenson Elementary on Merritt Island next school year. "We realized every bus stop is probably having this conversation," he said, which prompted him and others to "try and come up with a solution for everybody."
