School bus riders safer than ever, analysis shows
from Poughkeepsie Journal
School vehicles, from the traditional big, yellow buses that seat 72 children, to smaller vans built for seven, and their drivers, transport 2.3 million students in New York on any given school day. With that many children to worry about, standards for safety have to be strict, said Mary Sansaricq, state education director of pupil transportation. Statistics show they are safer now than they have ever been.
