How to fabricate porous artificial bone by injection molding
from SPE Plastics Research Online
Bone defects caused by trauma or tumors are very common. Traditional treatments for bone defects include grafts, but these have considerable problems, such as the suitability of the affected site, the availability of donated bone, and the risks of infection or rejection by the immune system. To get around this, tissue engineering applies methods from materials engineering and life sciences to create artificial constructs for in situ regeneration of the patient's own tissue.
