Birds keeping airport staff busy in 2013
from Waterloo Region Record
There are many tiny graves at the Region of Waterloo International Airport. There are no gravestones or memorials but they're there — many dead, tiny birds that met their fate wreaking havoc on the runway. Birds can be a nuisance for airports and potentially dangerous for planes and passengers. In past years, bird-related incidents have included everything from nests igniting in plane engines to wild turkeys running across the airstrip.
